She comes from a family of classical vocal singers.

She was 7 years old when she first aspired to become a singer.

Between 2010 and 2011, Luna appeared in the comedy reality television show, Star King, for which she won the SBS Entertainment Award in the “Best Newcomer in a Variety Show” category.

Her fellow f(x) groupmates include Victoria, Amber, and Krystal.

On May 31, 2016, she released her first extended play, Free Somebody, which was ranked at number #3 on the US World Albums (Billboard) chart and at number #5 on the South Korean Albums (Gaon) chart. It also got Luna nominated for the 2016 Mnet Asian Music Award for both “Best Dance Performance Solo” and “Song of the Year”.

As a theatre artist, she has been cast in several productions in roles such as Elle Woods in Legally Blonde, Gabriella Montez in High School Musical on Stage!, Sophie in Mamma Mia!, and Nina Rosario in In the Heights.
